RFID Technology in Libraries

RFID technology in libraries is a big challenge.


Since RFID tags are generated by humans and pasted by humans lot of chance is there that wrong tags are pasted to wrong books. While tagging books humans can enter wrong accession number and those wrong accession numbered books can be pasted on wrong books. Especially in big libraries it is very much necessary to take care of tagging of books.

Information about book comes from backend database and RFID software does not have facility to check for duplicate number hence while using RFID in libraries, libraries have to take atmost care while tagging the document. Otherwise it becomes a full mess and many books get tagged with same number, wrong tags get added on wrong books. It becomes a big mess if tags are not generated properly.

काल मला माझ्या एका मैत्रिणीचा फोन आला खूप टेन्शन मध्ये होती ऑफिस मध्ये काम करताना तिने तिच्या कामाचा बॅकअप घेतला नाही आणि अचानक डिस्क फेल झाली. खूप टेन्शन मध्ये होती. मी तिला म्हटलं उगाच टेन्शन घेऊ नकोस तू जर उबंटू ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टिम वापरात अशील तर सहज सर्व डेटा मिळेल. पण म्हणाली माझी बॉस मला खूप बोलतीये आणि खूप अपमान करतीये.

मला खूप वाईट वाटलं तिच्या बद्दल आणि सहज मागे जातात माझे दिवस आठवले. मी हि माझ्या पेक्षा सिनियर स्त्री अधिकाऱ्याकडून खूप वाईट वागणुकींला सामोरे गेले होते ते.

एखादी स्त्री दुसऱ्या स्त्रीचा अपमान करून तिला वाईट वागणूक देऊन काय आनंद मिळवते.

एकमेकांना समजून घेऊन मदत करून चांगल्या पद्धतीने काम करता येऊ शकते हे एखाद्या स्त्री अधिकाऱ्यांना समजून घ्यायाच का नसत आपल्या पेक्षा वयाने लहान, अधिकाराने लहान लोकांचा सतत अपमान करून त्याना त्रास देऊन कुठलं समाधान मिळत अशा लोकांना .

Librarianship

Have been working in library for last 25 years. Its a long journey with lot of good and bad memories.

Though its a noble profession it is dominated mostly by the scientific community. During the early career graph we used to get scared of scientists and senior officials. They would dominate.

It is lot of struggle for librarians for their survival. They have lot of oppositions from their own colleagues, seniors within the organization.

I always wonder why government employees have to do corruption. By God's grace our government salaries are much better than private institute salaries but was disappointed by hearing my own colleagues, seniors carrying out corruption. Does the money which we get is not sufficient for our survival.

Office politics really kills a lot. People play dirty politics in organizations and what do they achieve by doing it nobody knows. It is really disheartening that not many people join for "good cause" in government organization, they may do same outside as a social activity but very few think that any work allotted in government is an important task to be carried out and there should not be any politics played. Hierarchy is really a big issue for government offices. Why we don't think that the work should be done who does it, what capacity he/she does it is immaterial. Everybody has a hidden agenda and with that agenda people work.

Librarians are trying to work honestly within the organization, whenever any important information is required libraries are asked to provide but when it comes to providing due credit librarian will be the last person to get any kind of rewards within the organization.

after localhost a "space" is added because of which dspace wont send any mails to localhost as well. Hence remove that extra space added after localhost and restart tomcat.

सरकारी खबरे

गेली अनेक वर्षे सरकारी नोकरी केल्यानंतर काही गोष्टी लक्षात आल्या त्यातील महत्वाची गोष्ट म्हणजे पत्येक सरकारी कार्यालयात असणारे 'सरकारी खबरे' आणि त्यांचे महत्व.

हे सरकारी खबरे साहेबाचे इतके इमानी व्यक्ती असतात कि कामा पेक्षा साहेबाला इतर कर्मचाऱ्यांची इथम्भूत माहिती सांगण्याची नैतिक जबाबदारी त्यांच्यावर सोपवलेली असते. या खबर्यांचा संपूर्ण दिवस काही काम करण्या पेक्षा इतर कर्म चार्यान्बद्दल च्या वैयक्तिक, phone वर च्या संभाषणाची माहिती आणि आणिक त्यांच्या रोजच्या दिनचर्येत काय काय घडामोडी चालू आहेत हे तंतोतंत साहेबाला सांगण्याच काम यांच्या वर साहेबाने सोपवल असत. या कामामुळे साहेब त्यांच्या वर जाम खुश तर असतोच पण या खबर्यांना गेल्या वर्षभरात खूप चांगल काम केल्याचा 'शेरा' हि साहेब देतो. इतकी शोकांतिका भारतातील बर्याच  सरकारी कार्यालयात पाहायला मिळते. हे खबरे साहेबाच्या मर्जीतले असतात त्यामुळे त्यांना सर्व गोष्टी माफ़. त्यांना सर्व सोयी सवलती फक्त एका त्यांच्या आंगिक गुणा मुळे  तो म्हणजे 'खबर देणे'.  हे खबरे जे काही किरकोळ काम त्यांना दिलय 'on paper' तेहि काम कस टाळायचा ते हि उत्तम पद्धतीने करतात दिलेल काम दुसऱ्यावर कस ढकलायचं याच प्रशिक्षण त्यांना त्यांच्या हलक्या कानाच्या साहेबाकाडूनच मिळालेल असत. साहेबाला हि कामा शी मतलब फारसा नसतो त्यामुळे त्याचा 'अहंकार' जपला कि सर्व काही ठीकठाक.

सरकारी कार्यालयात कर्मचार्यांनी नवीन काही करून दाखवण्याची तर हिम्मत तच करू नये कारण अशाने साहेबाच्या व्यक्तिमत्वाला तडा जातो आणि त्यात जर एखादा कर्मचारी नवीन असेल त्याला नवीन कामाचा अनुभव असेल, बाहेर त्या कामा करिता त्याला चांगला मान सन्मान मिळत असेल तर अशा कर्मचार्याची कशी वाट लावायची हे साहेबाला चांगलाच माहित असत. त्यासाठी हे साहेब वाट्टेल त्या थराला जातात खोट बोलतात. अशा नवीन कर्मचार्याची शोकांतिका इतकी वाईट असते कि त्यांना त्यांच्या बरोबरचे सहकारी देखील मदत करत नाहित कारण साहेबाचा रोष कोण पत्करणार.


सरकारी  कचेरीत जर एखादा कर्मचारी नवीन रुजू झला तर हे खबरे त्याच जिण मुश्किल करतात कारण साहेबाला या नवीन कर्मचार्याची नको इतकी माहिती हे खबरे देतात त्यामुळे साहेब टपूनच बसलेला असतो या नवीन कर्मचार्याच्याबर हे खबरे वर्चस्व मिळवतात कारण त्यांना पूर्ण आधार साहेबाचा असतो. हे खबरे बर्याच चाली खेळतात नवीन कर्मचार्या समोर साहेबा बद्दल मुद्दाम वाईट बोलायच आणि जर हा नवीन कर्मचारी काही साहेबा बद्दल बोलला तर ते जसच्या तस आणि आणिक स्वताच काही त्यात add करून साहेबाला जाऊन सांगायचा कि ज्या योगे साहेबाच मत नवीन कर्मचार्या बद्दल पूर्ण खराब कस होईल याची हे खबरे पूर्णतः नैतिक जबाबदारी घेतात. त्यामुळे बर्याचदा नवीन कर्मचार्याला त्याची कामात काहीही चूक नसताना साहेबाकडून मिळणाऱ्या वाईट वागणुकीला सामोर जाव लागत.

हे खबरे साहेबाची महत्वाची काम करतात ती म्हणजे साहेबाची गाडी पुसणं, साहेबाच्या गाडीत petrol भरून आणणं , साहेबाची बँकेची काम कारण, इतर वैयक्तिक काम करण वगैरे वगैरे . या खबर्यांचा टोळ्यांच्या टोळ्या च अनेक सरकारी कार्यालयात कार्यरत असतात. दिवस भर काम करण्या पेक्षा कोण कुणाला काय म्हणाल हे याच त्याला सांगण्यात या कर्म चाऱ्यांचा दिवस जातो. कामा पेक्षा साहेबाला कस खुश ठेवता येईल यालाच जास्त महत्व इथे दिल जात.

साहेबही इतक्या हलक्या कानाचा असतो कि नवीन आलेला कर्मचारी जो वयाने लहान आहे, ज्याला नवीन काही तरी करून दाखवायचं अशा कर्मचार्याचा अधपतन कस करायच हे या अधिकार्यांना व्यवस्तीत माहित असत बर हे साहेब इतक्या सफाईदार पणे राजकारण खेळतात कि या नवीन कार्माचार्याच्ना त्यांच्या कार्यालयीन कामातून कस हद्दपार करायच हे ते साहेब चांगल्या खुबीने करतात. बर अनेक वर्षे मोठ्या पदावर काम केलेले हे साहेब नवीन कर्मचार्याच्या अस्तित्वाने इतके बेचैन होतात कि नवीन कर्मचार्याची प्रत्येक कृती त्यांना खटकायला लागते नव्हे नवीन कर्मचार्याच्या प्रत्येक कृतीत त्यांना सतत काहीतरी चूक दिसते. बर या साहेबांचे खबरे हि असतातच खतपाणी घालायला. या साहेबांना ते म्हणतील तीच पूर्व दिशा याची इतकी सवय झालेली असते कि नवीन आलेला कर्मचारी त्याची कामाची पद्धत त्याची नवीन काम करून दाखवण्याची धडपड या साहेबांना त्रासदायक व्हायला लागते. हे अधिकारी मग वेळ प्रसंगी खोट बोलतात, नवीन कर्मचार्याचा अस्तीतावाच ते नाकारतात. नवीन अधिकार्याचा आयुष्य पूर्ण पणे उद्वस्त करायचा घाट च हे साहेब घालतात.


प्रामाणिकपणा, नितीमत्ता हि सरकारी कचेर्यांमध्ये इतक्या खालच्या पातळीला गेलीये कि बरेच प्रामाणिक कर्मचारी यात भरडले जातात . जे कर्मचारी याबद्दल बोलायचं प्रयत्न करतात त्यांना शिस्तीत वाईट ठरवल जात, त्यांच्या बद्दल इतर तर्क वितर्क केले जातात.

कार्यालयीन राजकारण हे दिवसेंदिवस भयानक रूप धारण करतय. मनाचा, विचारांचा मोठेपणा, नवीन रक्ताला वाव देण त्यांना जमेल तेवढी मदत करण हे जणू अशक्य झालय. निवृत्त होण्याची वृत्ती माणसा मध्ये तयारच होत नाही.

सर्वात वाईट वाटत  कि माणूस आपल्यात ला प्रामाणिकपणा इतका का विसरलाय. इतक कुणाच वाईट का चिंतावा आणि इतक कुणाच वाईट का कराव. आपल्या हातात जितक चांगल असेल तितकच कराव .

DSpace on gmail (Resolved)

DSpace on Gmail worked now with following settings. Earlier I had opened up mail.server.port=465 and it was throwing an error as

"javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException"

For setting up dspace with gmail click below link and disable security settings.It will work. https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps

then also hash following line in dspace.cfg as setup below

restart the tomcat and it works and sends email from gmail.
